Delivery style: passionate, collaborative, compelling and creative with a side order of sensitivity

The Head of Digital has a broad responsibility; s/he needs to constantly monitor the digital landscape, evaluate the commercial opportunities presented, deliver innovation internally and externally as well as educate, mentor and support a mixed bag of individuals responsible for planning and delivery.  The Head of Digital needs to ensure that s/he has both feet firmly on the ground to maximise efficiencies, growth and financial health whilst keeping an eye on the horizon, poised to size new opportunities as they arise.

The Head of Digital will need to have the same combination of sensitivity and persuasive skills as found in good change managers. Ideally the Head of Digital will have a broad and deep understanding of the marketing mix and communications media and have solid project management experience of the more recent tools such as SEM, SEO, PPC, SMS, Mobile, Email, Viral, Web, e-Commerce, Intranet and Extranets.

    Absolutely. I think that a good Head of Digital would relish the opportunity to be involved at the beginning of a relationship. It enables s/he to set out the flexibility and diversity of digital very early on.
